Arogya Express Dental MHU -GOA

Brief Program Overview:

It is a CSR initiative of Colorcon Asia Private Limited in collaboration with Voluntary Health Association of Goa

Voluntary Health Association of Goa in collaboration with Colorcon Asia Pvt. Ltd. launched a “Mobile Health Care Project “for Sanguem Taluka in the Month of Dec. 2015. Initially a base line survey was conducted in 2015 to find out exact health situations and social issues faced by the community and their needs.

The project was launched with the aim “To contribute in providing early diagnosis and timely treatment to the children and adults of Sanguem Taluka and increase cure rate.”

This was to be done by conducting regular health check-ups and awareness sessions amongst the students and the communities of Sanguem Taluka. Main preference is given to those villages, which are hard to reach and to whom availing health care facilities remains a distant dream.

Project Goal:

  • To screen the community and hence provide early diagnosis and timely treatment.
  •  To reduce the morbidity and mortality rates due to various communicable and non-communicable diseases in the Taluka
  •  To create awareness amongst the community and bring about a change about various aspects of health and hygiene.

Project Objective:

  • To screen school children in a year.
  • To ensure that adult population receives proper general check up and referral cases receive timely treatments.
  • To ensure follow up of referred cases- and that treatments are taken.
  • Increase in knowledge levels on health aspects, personal hygiene and sanitation among school children and community.
  • To increase knowledge of the community regarding various health hazards such as ill effects of tobacco, alcoholism, awareness on communicable and no communicable diseases and importance of having a balanced diet, physical activities etc.

Aim:

To contribute in providing early diagnosis and timely treatment to the adults & children of  Sanguem Taluka and increase cure rate.

Arogya Express Village Health camps

The village health camps are organized with the able support of different village Panchayats from Sanguem Taluka.

We take support from villagers, volunteers and panch members.

Process followed at the camp: registration, accessing the vital health parameters like height and weight, pulse, blood pressure etc, taking past history of the patient about health indices.

The project Medical Officer then examines the patient and prescribes medicine as required or provides a referral note if further investigation required. The patients are given medicines free of cost at camp site. During dispensing of medicine the details on how to take medicines, precautions are explained to the patients by the doctor and nurse.

Secondary or Tertiary care: At general screening if patient is diagnosed with some major health issue s/he is referred to the nearest PHC or the Government District Hospitals, Margao. On next visits the follow up on the case is monitored to check the treatment progress.

This ensures early diagnosis and timely treatments.

Apart from health camps the project team also delivers health awareness sessions on tobacco, diet and nutrition, dental hygiene, personal hygiene, open defecation and its consequences, hypertension, diabetes etc.

Health Awareness Programmes

Health education is an essential tool of community health. A great deal of ill-health in the rural part of Goa is due to ignorance of simple rules of hygiene. Good health is a pre condition for good education.

Health Awareness sessions were conducted for community as well as in schools on different subjects making people aware about the diseases, symptoms and precautionary measures to keep self away from those.
