Arogya Mitra MHU (2012-17)

Goa Shipyard Limited and Voluntary Health Association of Goa were providing health care facilities at the door steps of the people of 3 Panchayats Quepem Taluka since 2012 with help of the Mobile van.

 

People of this Taluka were deprived of the basic facilities enjoyed by the cities as they did not have proper medical facilities.

On the recommendation of Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) ventured on a Health Intervention Project in Quepem Taluka to provide health care facilities both to the school children and adults. Hence, the “Mobile Health Care Project in Quepem Taluka” was launched on 17th August 2012 with an aim of “Making the Quepem Taluka a Healthy Taluka”.

 

Over the past 4 years, “Arogya Mitra” has covered all the villages & schools in the 3 Panchayats of Quepem Taluka (Morpilla, Caurem – Pirla, Paddi- Barcem) where the people don’t have any medical facilities.

 

Project Goal:

To contribute in providing early diagnosis and timely treatment to the children and adults of Quepem Taluka and increase awareness on various health aspects and increase access to health care by 2017.

 

Aims & Objective of Mobile Health Care Project:

  • Better access to Health Care facilities
  • To promote health with a holistic approach by working in areas that directly or indirectly impinge on it – environmental, social, physical, psychological and spiritual.
  • To increase the knowledge of preventive measures.
  • To promote awareness and education amongst community on matters related to health & hygiene through Behavioral change Communication (BCC).
  • To screen the children & adults for illness, and provide early diagnosis and timely treatments.
  • To improve the health parameters this leads to improve livelihood.

  • Cancer Screening
  • Awareness on health & social issues
  •  Providing free medicines
  • Providing information on Health
  • Timely referrals to the hospitals
